Commentator Orlov on Spartak defender Jikia: I can’t call him leader 06:30

Well-known commentator Gennady Orlov criticized the captain and defender of Moscow “Spartak” Georgy Jikia, reports “Sport Express”.

“He’s been playing for Spartak for a long time, some experts see him as the country’s leading defender. But I don’t think so. I can’t call Jikia the leader of the red-whites. According to the game, he doesn’t fit this status. Well, he’s not a defensive post, he’s not reliable… And their forward expeditions often become a gamble, ”Lovchev said.

Recall that in the 30th round match of the Russian Premier League (RPL) with Samara “Wings of the Soviets”, Jikia was removed from the bench. Thus, the red-and-white captain will have missed at least the first half of the new RPL season.

Jikia has been playing for Spartak Moscow since 2017, and at the same time, the player received calls to the Russian national team.

It was previously reported that Jikia said about health problems. According to him, he may need surgery in the off-season.

Recall that the red and whites took the 3rd place in the Russian Premier League last season. The club scoring 54 points, Zenit St. Petersburg (70 points) and CSKA Moscow (58 points). In the last round of the national championship, the red and whites were defeated by the Soviet Samara Wings away.

In addition, Spartak lost to Akron Togliatti in the second stage of the Russian Cup Regions Road semi-finals. Thus, the team could not defend their title, which they won last year, by defeating Dynamo in the final match.
