Argentine striker Lionel Messi has announced that he is leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season. His words were reported on Twitter by journalist Fabrizio Romano, with reference to ESPN.
“I am happy to represent PSG. I really enjoyed playing for this team with such good players. “I want to thank the club for the wonderful experience in Paris,” said Messi.
On 1 June, PSG head coach Christophe Galtier said his game against Clermont will be the 35-year-old’s last game at the Parc des Princes. This was seen as confirmation of the Argentine’s departure from the club. But later the Paris club said that Galtier was not precise enough – in fact, it was about the last game of this season.
Messi’s contract with the Parisians expires at the end of June this year. He transferred to PSG in 2021. Prior to that, the striker played for Barcelona throughout his career.
