French-born defender Le Normand could soon be added to this list.
The French rObin Le Normandcurrent defender of Real Sociedad, obtained Spanish nationality, was cited by Luis de la Fuente for the Nations League and could become one so in the latter case of a special list.
Until the arrival of Le Normand, the also French Laporte was the last nationalized to be cited for La Roja. A list where it would also be necessary to mention the nearly 40 players who were not born in the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands or the Canary Islands and who, due to various circumstances, because they had Spanish parents or grandparents – cases of Thiago, Rial or Santamaría – or because it was the homeland of Spain at that time -as Paulino Alcántara- ended up with the ‘Red’.
Among the main non-Spanish footballers who acquired Spanish nationality and played in the national team, to which we must also add Juan Carlos Heredia, Juan Carlos Tourinño, Eulogio Martínez, Thomas Christiansen, we have:
