The World Taekwondo Federation has launched an investigation against the Russian Taekwondo Union due to the inclusion of the Crimean regional federation in the organization. This was reported by Inside the Games, citing a statement from World Taekwondo.

“Regarding the charges against the Russian Taekwondo Union, World Taekwondo is currently investigating this matter and will not comment further until this process is complete,” the message said.

On April 3, World Taekwondo allowed athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in competitions with neutral status. Russians and Belarusians will participate in the World Championship, which will be held in Baku from 29 May to 6 June and will compete outside the team event.

In the capital of Azerbaijan, athletes from these countries must sign a declaration obliging them to comply with the conditions of participation. At the same time, among those who were accepted were Maxim Khramtsov and Vladislav Larin, the Olympic champions of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Recall that at the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made a call to international sports federations and recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.

At a meeting of the IOC executive committee on March 28, it was recommended that the Russians be allowed a neutral status if the athletes did not actively support the hostilities. Athletes representing law enforcement and armed forces will not be allowed to compete.

Formerly World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announcedRussian athletes commit the most anti-doping rule violations in 2020.
