Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev shared his thoughts on his performance in the first round of the French Open (Roland Garros).
Rublev, Russia’s second and the world’s seventh racket, defeated Serbian Laszlo Djere, who is 57th in the Tennis Professionals Association rating, in the opening match. The Russian player won the match with the scores of 6:1, 3:6, 6:3, 6:4 in four sets.
“I managed to win the first set pretty easily, but in the second set I was very calm. I was relieved, I had no energy. The game was more or less equal until he took a medical break and started to play well,” Rublev said at his post-match press conference.
The tennis player also noted that he tried to regain his energy in the third set and started improving his game, which eventually helped him win the match.
In the second round of the French Open, Rublev will play against French tennis player Corentin Moutet (61st racket in the world).
