Russian tennis player Alexander Shevchenko reached the number of participants in the second round of the Grand Slam Roland Garros tournament held in Paris, France.
Ranking 84th in the Professional Tennis Association (ATP) rating, Russia beat German representative Oscar Otte, who was the 120th racket of the world in the first round, 7:5, 4:6, 6:1, 7:6 (7:2).
The meeting lasted three hours.
Shevchenko made six aces, made six double faults and also converted nine out of 19 breakouts. Otte posted eight aces, seven double faults and six break points.
Shevchenko’s next opponent will be Italian Lorenzo Musetti, who is ranked 18th in the ATP rating.
Previously, Russian tennis players Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev also reached the second round at Roland Garros. Daniil Medvedev and Aslan Karatsev will play the opening matches of the tournament on 29 May.
