Former head coach of the Russian national team, Boris Ignatiev, commented on the decision of the International Football Federation (FIFA) to extend the permission of foreign players to suspend contracts with Russian clubs. Transmits words “Euro-Football.Ru”.

“This only applies to foreigners who have suspended their contract with our teams. I think we should see this step as an indulgence of those sitting in big football organizations. It seems that FIFA is rethinking its attitude towards Russian football, ”said Ignatiev.

Recall that last year FIFA allowed legionnaires playing in the RPL to suspend their contracts. The May 22, 2023 amendment allows them to extend the suspension period until June 30, 2024. However, this only applies to foreigners who used this right before 7 March 2022.

Also, after some players were sold to European teams, some Russian clubs had problems getting paid for transfers.
