The International Fencing Federation (FIE) Executive Board has withdrawn its European Championship status from the European Games in Krakow due to problems with obtaining visas for Russian athletes to enter Poland. About reports TASS With reference to AFP.

According to the agency, the reason for this decision was the ambiguous situation in obtaining visas for Russian and Belarusian athletes to enter Poland. In connection with this, a member of the FIE executive committee stated that they are planning to hold an impromptu individual European championship in October.

The European Games will be held in Krakow, Poland and will run from 21 June to 2 July 2023.

Recall that in March the International Fencing Federation decided to extradite Russian and Belarusian fencers. It will come into effect from the second half of April 2023.

On May 11, it was learned that the FIE did not allow 13 Russian fencers to participate in the tournaments, including Olympic champions Sofia Pozdnyakova, Yana Yegoryan and Sofia Velikaya.
