What happened
The Moscow derby or the All Rus’ Derby between Spartak and CSKA is always famous for its intensity. It so happened that lately the matches of the teams have a scandalous connotation. So, in the first round match (2:2), the head coaches of the teams Guillermo Abascal and Vladimir Fedotov argued.
However, the second round match played at Otkritie Bank Arena the previous day was even hotter. There was much at stake in the tournament plan as well. The win actually gave CSKA the RPL silver medals and the draw was clearly in favor of red and blue. This just won Spartak (2:1), thus reducing the points gap with their main rivals to just one point with two laps to the finish line.
Abaskal’s wards won dramatically. Victoria came out willing and the decisive goal was scored from a penalty that looked controversial and was assigned after watching VAR, and Igor Akinfeev dragged Quincy Promes’ shot, but he himself managed to play the rebound.
But the main scandalous event was the mutual dismissal of Spartak striker Alexander Sobolev and CSKA defender Willian Roshi. The opponents struggled on the field throughout the match and after a part, Spartak player, looking down on his opponent, who fell to the ground in the army’s penalty area, took the football player’s underwear between his legs.
The Brazilian player reacted instantly, rushing to the lineman and pointing out the move that Sobolev had just made. The line referee did not appreciate the actions of the red-blue player and explained the actions of both players to the head referee Sergey Karasev, and the referee on the field showed the players a red card.
The incident happened when the score was 1:1, but after the match ended, Sobolev’s attitude and Karasev’s decision to remove both players from the squad caused heated debate.
“Sobolev’s action does not conform to Spartak’s values”
“Sobolev provoked me, I did not answer. And it was only in that episode that I drew the attention of the judges to the episode. This is a derby. I removed Sobolev from the game, I did not let him do anything, so he acted like that. You don’t need to respect me, respect children and women. Does Sobolev have children? Would that be a nice gesture?” In an interview with Match TV after the match, Rosha said:
Spartak head coach Guillermo Abascal commented on the event at the post-match press conference and criticized the striker for his behavior.
“He will definitely be punished. This gesture is not in line with our values. But did you see Roshi’s aggressive actions against Sobolev? It is important to note that in the previous match against CSKA there was a moment when Promes was carded for fouling Roche. Then that moment They also analyzed it for a long time,” said the Spanish expert.
– If this happens again, the person will not play. Respect, education – all these qualities are important. It’s not an individual sport, it’s a team game. Last time we punished Martins. If this happens again, the players will sit on the bench.”
The communication director of the army club, Kirill Breido, made a broadcast on the Telegram channel and announced that his club had applied to the Expert Referee Commission of the Russian Football Union.
“We will definitely be contacting the ESC RFU about at least two parts: about the punishment assigned and the dismissal of Roshi, which no one understands. Also, we don’t understand what guides VAR in several parts at once today. We consider it necessary for the RFU to publish the judges’ deliberations within the framework of the colleagues’ new format,” he wrote.
“As for the behavior of Alexander Sobolev or other opposing players, we believe it’s not us but the other team’s leadership, the fans and, by extension, the FTC that should judge.”
“I think there’s the RFU Control and Disciplinary Board that needs to sort this out, especially since it turned out to be a relapse. Of course, it is clear that the derby, the emotions, but it was a little beyond, or rather not a little, ”TASS quotes the red-blue general director Roman Babaev.
As for Sobolev himself, he wrote on his Telegram channel immediately after the match that Moscow was “red and white”, but after a while he apologized for his behavior.
“I apologize to everyone in the stadium who watched the match on TV! These feelings and what I’m doing is absolutely unacceptable! As I understand it, there were children, women and all football fans on the screens. I promise this won’t happen again. “I’m really sorry,” the red-and-white striker wrote.
The author of the couple, who won the Quincy Promes derby, talked about what happened.
“The second half was more emotional than the first half. I didn’t quite understand what was going on there. But it’s just good that Sobolev didn’t get a red card. The Dutch were fair in terms of the heat in the derby.
“Still, such deletions should be avoided in any case. I think Sasha will learn from this lesson. This is part of the derby. The important thing was that we won.”
aggravating conditions
It was learned that both players, who retired on May 22, will be invited to the Control and Disciplinary Board meeting, which will evaluate this event and the behavior of the players.
“The episode with Sobolev’s gesture will definitely be considered in the FTC. Sobolev, Rocha and club representatives were summoned. “The incident is on the agenda for consideration at the FTC meeting,” said FTC chairman Artur Grigoryants.
At the same time, the honorary head of the RFU, Vyacheslav Koloskov, believes that the disqualification of Sobolev will take a long time.
“He’s already been red-carded. They won’t give you a second one. I think there’s no need to daydream any more. We have a disciplinary code, everything is clearly stated there: for what, where and for how much. Therefore, no more guessing about further penalties. “There is no need. They will most likely give you the maximum. I don’t know if three or five matches are worth it. I absolutely understand why he should be given the maximum time,” said the ex-officer.
At the same time, an interesting detail came to light: Sobolev showed exactly the same move that got him sent to Roshi earlier in the match. The incident, which took place some time before the pavement, took place in the middle of the field and was ignored by the referees. However, it entered the framework of publication, albeit from a general plan.
Frankly, this could be an aggravating situation for Sobolev. Another factor not in Spartak’s favor will be his dismissal in the Cup match against Zenit, where the teams clash in a melee that looks more like a fight.
As for Roshi, he had never been seen before and tried to show the referee what Spartakist did in a particular episode. Another thing, to say the least, was not worth repeating anyway …
In the remaining two rounds of the championship, CSKA will visit Krasnodar and then host Rostov, while Spartak will play at home against Pari NN and in Samara against Wings of the Sovets. Possible long penalties from Sobolev and Roshi could be a factor in the silver race and even affect the start of next season.
