Resit will be maintained for the Opening 2023: what are the changes and who is eligible?

The early elimination of the Mexican national team in the group stage of the World Cup Qatar 2022 brought with him one series of changes inside the Mexican Football Federationwhich were announced on January 31 in the CHAR (High Performance Center).

Since his return to Opened 2020, the reclassification phase has been in effect for three years in the league format in Mexico. The same that had a series of changes for the edition of the opened in 2023.

Previously, only four teams qualified directly for the Liguilla and the remaining 4 places were awarded through Repechage, where the teams that finished 5 to 12 in the overall ranking played a single match for a ticket to the Fiesta Grande.

Now the said body will award only two places, which remain as follows:

• The teams that have completed the regular phase of 17 rounds between positions 1 and 6 will qualify directly for the quarter-finals.
• Positions 7 and 8 are awarded via Resit
• Positions 7, 8, 9 and 10 play the reclassification phase.
• The winner of the match between 7th and 8th place will advance to the quarter-finals.
• The winner of the match between 9th and 10th places will compete against the loser of the match between 7th and 8th places.
• The loser of the match between 7th and 8th places plays against the winner of the match between 9th and 10th places.
