The press service of the International Boxing Association (IBA) reported that the board of directors of the organization suspended the membership of seven national federations.
The boxing federations of Germany, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Sweden were found guilty of violating the IBA charter and membership policy rules. These associations joined an illegitimate boxing organization.
Membership of the Czech Boxing Federation was suspended after the organization of the international Grand Prix tournament, in which boxers related to the USA Boxing were accepted.
USA Boxing has deprived its athletes, trainers and officials of the opportunity to participate in any activities of the IBA and its affiliated members as it has canceled its membership in the International Boxing Association as of the end of April 2023.
The IBA Board has suspended the Liberia Boxing Association and the Equatorial Guinea Boxing Federation for failing to submit annual reports in accordance with the IBA’s membership policy.
At the World Championships held in Tashkent, the Russian national team won six medals (two gold and four bronze) and placed third in the overall classification. Russian and Belarusian boxers competed under their own flags in the tournament.
At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on March 28, it was recommended that the Russians be allowed to have a neutral status, if the athletes were not actively engaged in supporting hostilities. Athletes representing law enforcement and armed forces will not be allowed to compete.
