Italian biathlete Dorothea Wierer explained in Playboy magazine why she refused to shoot a few years ago.

“This is an old story, maybe ten years ago. It was a request from Russia: biathlon is popular there.

I’m not so sure myself. Also, the girls who enter this magazine today are no longer completely naked. I was supposed to shoot nude, so I declined. But if someone feels comfortable shooting nude, then go for it,” he quotes. Corriere della Sera.

Wierer is a four-time biathlon world champion. He also has three bronze medals from different Olympics in 2014, 2018 and 2022.

Recall that the International Biathlon Union (IBU) announced last spring its decision to allow Belarusian and Russian biathletes to participate in the World Cup and IBU stages only as neutral athletes. As a result, the Russians decided to skip these competitions. In September, the organization extended the suspension period.

At the end of March, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that the Russians be allowed to have a neutral status if the athletes did not take an active part in supporting the conflict.
