Former Torpedo President Ilya Gerkus believes Russian forward Artem Dzyuba can save the club from relegation from the Russian Premier League (RPL). Transmits words “Match TV”.

“It so happened that the “Torpedo” took off. Theoretically, they could have been saved if they had made the right transfers. Any team is a loss for RPL. I feel my responsibility. Did you save the “Torpedo” Dziuba? Yes. I don’t think Talalaev’s appointment was a mistake. It was my decision,” said Herkus.

Losing 0:3 to CSKA in the 27th week of the Russian Championship, the Black and Whites lost their chance to get a residence permit for the next season in the RPL.

Torpedo won the First Division last year and returned to the RPL seven years later. During the season the team changed head coach four times, now the club is led by Spaniard Josep Clotet.

Artem Samsonov, former captain of Torpedo hopedthat his team will return to RPL.
