Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier shared his opinion that the fans booed Argentine forward Lionel Messi before the match with Ajaccio in the 35th week of the French Ligue 1.
“There was a whistle, but most of the stadium quelled it very quickly by supporting Messi. He kept his concentration, tried to reinvigorate the game, created positions. He was used to this backlash as he had to get into difficult situations throughout his career,” says Galtier. Yahoo Sports.
PSG defeated Ajaccio 5-0. Messi, who spent the entire 90 minutes of the match on the field, could not score a goal with effective movements. It was his first match since returning to the squad after being suspended for an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia.
Media had previously reported that Messi has decided not to sign a new contract with PSG and join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
In August 2021 the Argentine moved to PSG after playing for Barcelona for many years in the Spanish Championship. The striker’s contract with the Ligue 1 club runs until June 2023.
According to L’Équipe, Al-Hilal offered Messi a 600m-euro deal for two seasons. Media also reported that the Argentine is considering returning to Barcelona, as well as moving to the United States and playing for MLS team Inter Miami.
