Barcelona coach Xavi made statements about the departure of midfielder Sergi Busquets from the team after this season. His words were reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
“Busquets is the smartest player I’ve ever seen or played with. He’s a genius. We’re losing the best midfielder in our history. Xavi has given his all in everything he’s done on and off the court,” said Xavi.
Busquets has been with Barcelona since 2006. He has won the Spanish Cup eight times, won the Spanish Cup seven times and also won the Champions League main trophy three times. As part of the Spanish national team, Busquets won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.
In this season of the Spanish Championship, Busquets made 27 appearances and provided four assists in those games.
Former Spanish La Liga President Javier Tebas discretion Busquets leaves Barcelona at the end of the season.
