Florida goalie Bobrovsky sets club record with decisive game saves

The Toronto Maple Leafs lost 3-2 to the Florida Panthers in Game 5 of the National Hockey League (NHL) Quarterfinals Playoff Series today. This allowed “Florida” to score a fourth victory in the quarterfinals series and advance to the semifinals.

Russian Florida goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky broke the club record with 50 saves throughout the game. That’s a record number of saves for a franchise goalkeeper in a playoff decision. The record was previously held by Scott Clemmensen, who made 39 saves in Game 6 of the 2012 Conference Quarterfinals.

Now Florida will play against the Carolinas. Wards Rod Brindamore defeated the New Jersey Devils in overtime in Game 5 of the semifinals series.

Bobrovsky has been playing in Florida since 2019. Before that, he played for the Columbus Blue Jackets. As part of this team, he twice obeyed the Vezina Cup, the award for the best goalkeeper of the regular championship of the National Hockey League. This season, he missed two games during the regular season.
