Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotejo, announced that the Russian national football team wants to hold a face-to-face friendly match.
»Russia wants to play a friendly match with Indonesia. This should be agreed with the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) first. I hope this happens,” the organization’s official website quotes Ariotejo.
In the spring of 2022, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Association of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to exclude all Russian clubs, as well as the Russian national team, from all competitions controlled by these organizations. Thus, the Russians missed the World Cup held in Qatar at the end of 2022. The Russians are not in the qualifying stage of the 2024 European Championship.
During the suspension period, the Russians played several friendly matches with teams from Iraq and Iran, as well as from Asia.
Recently, the Russian national team refused to participate in the Central Asian Football Federation (CAFA) championship, which will also be held in June.
It was previously reported that Russian Football Cup final can be moved from Luzhniki.
