Why Milan and Inter play their matches in the same stadium
The Giuseppe Meazza is the stadium that Milan and Inter use at home for one simple reason. The stadium was inaugurated in September 1926 and was owned exclusively by Milan. However, in 1935, the rossonero club’s financial problems forced him to sell his property to the municipal government, although Milan continued to play their games there
Then, from 1947, Inter also started playing at home in that stadium, to share the cost thereof with the rival team. Since 1980, the stadium has been named after Giuseppe Meazza, a former player of both teams. Until then it was known as San Siro because it is located in the San Siro district of Milan.
