Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) American fighter Colby Covington said he is ready to fight against lightweight promotion champion Islam Makhachev.
“I want to fight Mahachev, I love this fight. He won’t be able to lift me up, he won’t be able to interrupt me when I’m standing, and he certainly won’t be able to hold me in surrender. So this is a very easy fight for me. It would be a high-profile fight because it’s a champion’s fight against a champion,” Covington said in an interview with James Lynch.
Covington has entered the octagon 20 times and has 17 wins.
On February 12, Makhachev defeated Volkanovski by unanimous decision after five rounds at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia. This victory for the Russian took the 24th place in his professional career with a loss.
Ali Abdel-Aziz, the manager of the Russian fighter, who previously won the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in lightweight Islam Makhachev, thinksthat his ward should defend the title in a fight with Dariush Beneil.
