The Italians know well what it is to win the European Cup.

Internazionale de Milan is one of the most successful clubs in Europe. And not just because of what he has done at the local level, as the Lombardy team has won 34 Italian champions (19 Serie A titles, 8 Coppa Italia and 7 Italian Super Cups). The Nerazzurri are also great for what they have achieved on a continental level.

And it is that Inter has won the Champions League (former European Cup) on three occasions: in the 1963-1964 season, the Italians defeated Real Madrid 3-1 in the final in Vienna; a year later, and again with Argentinian coach Helenio Herrera on the bench, Inter became European champions by beating Benfica 1–0 in Giuseppe Meazza.

The latest conquest in Europe, however, is much more recent: they did it in the 2009/10 season, when the team led by Jose Mourinho beat Bayern Munich 2-0 with a brace from Diego Milito at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Inter were also runners-up twice: in 1966/67, losing the Lisbon final against Celtic 2-1 (Herrera was still the coach), and in the 1971/72 season, with Giovanni Invernizzi on the bench, when they 2- lost. 0 against Johan Cruijff’s Ajax, author of the two goals in the Rotterdam final.

It should be remembered that in 1998 and 2010, Inter was considered the best club in the world by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
