Russian Vsevolod Shumkov reached the 1/8 finals of the World Boxing Championship. Defeated Israeli representative Vladislav Voroshilov in the 1/16 final.
The fight took place in the weight category up to 60 kg. Shumkov won ahead of schedule, knocking out his opponent in the second round – after this blow, Voroshilov could not continue the fight. Shumkov’s next opponent will be the winner of the fight between Kyrgyzstani boxer Mirzokhid Imamnazarov and Azerbaijani Tayfur Aliyev.
It should be noted that at the World Championships held in Tashkent, Russian boxers performed without any restrictions and under the national flag, as well as the Russian anthem. Some country federations boycotted the competition due to the participation of the Russians in the tournament with all their rights reserved. In particular, representatives from the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Canada, Poland, the United States, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Sweden stated that they refused to speak.
