Russian President Vladimir Putin said world sports officials often neglect the principles of Olympism. TASS.

Putin noted that Russian athletes participate in international sports competitions and plan to take part in various international competitions.

“I will not talk about what and how the international sports authorities are doing about it. Unfortunately, they often neglect the principles of Olympism. They are only harming this international Olympic movement,” Putin added.

Recall that at the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee made an appeal to international sports federations and advised not to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in any competitions.

At a meeting of the IOC executive committee on March 28, it was recommended that the Russians be allowed a neutral status if the athletes did not actively support the hostilities. Athletes representing law enforcement and armed forces will not be allowed to compete.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the vast majority of countries are members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Support return of domestic athletes to world sport.
