Russian Premier League (RPL) President Alexander Alaev said that there will be no changes in the format of the tournament in the 2023/24 season.
“There is no question of changing the format of the RPL on the league general assembly agenda. Considering that the next season will start very soon, it is not possible for us to expect a change in the format, but such studies should continue,” says Alaev. “Sport Express”.
Alaev had previously announced a possible change in the league’s format following discussions with all interested parties, including the launch of a playoff phase next season.
In anticipation of the start of this season, the format of the Russian Cup has been changed. The tournament was divided into upper and lower brackets – RPL Road and Regions Road. The principle of holding the tournament in May 2022 was proposed by the organizers of the Russian Premier League Cup.
