The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) combined the claim of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), as well as the International Skating Union (ISU) into one lawsuit. Against the verdict in the case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, reports TASS.
“All three appeals will be considered simultaneously,” CAS told the agency.
On January 13, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency learned of the disciplinary committee’s decision to acquit Valieva in case of anti-doping rule violation. The only sanction imposed on the skater was the cancellation of her results when she passed a positive test – that is, Valieva was deprived of the title of champion of Russia in 2021.
On February 21, the World Anti-Doping Agency announced that it had filed an appeal with the CAS against the acquittal of the RUSADA disciplinary anti-doping committee in the Valieva case. Later, RUSADA and ISU also objected to the decision.
