Kavazashvili believes RFU doesn’t care about fans by rejecting CAFA tournament

Former goalkeeper of Spartak Moscow and the USSR national team, Anzor Kavazashvili, criticized the Russian Football Union (RFU) for refusing to participate in the Central Asian Football Federation (CAFA) tournament.

The senior described this decision as mediocre. “This is better than friendly matches. The cup is scrambling. In my opinion, the RFU did not care about the fans of the Russian national team who refused to participate in this tournament,” he quotes “RB Sports”.

Six teams will participate in the tournament to be held in June: Iran, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Recall that in the spring of 2022 the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Association of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to exclude the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from participation in all competitions controlled by these organizations.

On March 23, the Russian team drew 1:1 with Iran in Tehran. On March 26, Valery Karpin’s St. Petersburg beat the Iraqi national team 2-0.
