Rodnina says no one remembers Baiul, the Ukrainian figure skater who applied to the IOC

The Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, three-time Olympic champion in pair skating Irina Rodnina spoke about the appeal of Ukrainian figure skater Oksana Baiul to the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, with a request not to be allowed. Russian athletes will participate in international competitions.

Baiul, the 1994 women’s singles champion, previously recorded a video message to IOC president Thomas Bach, asking him not to let the Russians, even in neutral.

At a meeting of the IOC executive committee on March 28, it was recommended that the Russians be allowed a neutral status if the athletes did not actively support the hostilities. Athletes representing law enforcement and armed forces will not be allowed to compete.
