Happy result for the interests of Atticgo CBM Elche on the last day of the regular stage of the Iberdrola Guerreras League. Thanks to their defensive prowess, Franjiverdes won their match at Gurpea Beti-Onak’s home enough (15-21) and took advantage of Porriño’s home draw against Rocasa Gran Canaria to take fourth place from the Galicians.
This way Atticgo Elche and Porriño will face each other in a quarterfinal draw within the “play-off” for the championship, something both teams were already familiar with before this final day. The variation shows up in the space factor, which becomes in line with the interests of green collars. Therefore, the second match will be played at the Esperanza Lag Pavilion.
The commitment at Villava had only hints of formality for the players led by Joaquín Rocamora, but they did not give up their usual defensive offensiveness. Another thing was the attack, because if they had been more inspired, their income could have been higher. Between the end of the first half and the start of the second half, Atticgo Elche got enough of an advantage by stepping on the accelerator, and it was never feared that the two points would weigh on the trunk on the way home.
With the win-pocket and the game’s top scorer Dutchman Van Zijl (5 goals), Rocamora was giving minutes to less ordinary players in an effort to dampen their efforts for the final part of the season. The Elche women checked for any hints of local rapprochement and all that remained was to check the result in Galicia to find out if they were fourth or fifth.
In the fight between Porriño and Gran Canaria, the visiting team managed to level the game in the last minute and indirectly did the green-Franjiverde a favour. We have the Copa de la Reina (quarter-final against Bera Bera) and the “play-off” (quarter-final against Porriño) for the League title ahead of us.
