Former Rostov coach Sergei Balakhnin spoke about the match played between Torpedo and Spartak in the 23rd week of the Russian Premier League. The expert noted that although the black and white team won the previous match by beating Fakel, Spartak is still the favourite, taking into account the team’s motivation and the struggle for medals.
“Still a tough question. If you just look at football, the match against Fakel was not believable. Yes they won, they got three points, they might have a chance with great inspiration. But that’s unlikely, after all Spartak is much stronger and has to fight for medals. Of course, Spartak is the clear favorite,” Balakhnin told socialbites.ca.
Spartak has amassed 42 points after 22 laps and is third in the RPL rankings, two points behind Rostov and 12 points behind leader Zenit. Torpedo closes the table with just 13 points after 22 games. The match between Torpedo and Spartak will take place on Saturday, April 15th in Luzhniki and kicks off at 19:00 Moscow time.
Former coach of the Russian national team Boris Ignatiev spoke About the work of Ural’s mentor, Viktor Goncharenko, in CSKA and how this experience will help the “wasps” in a face-to-face meeting with the army team.
