Former Spartak coach Massimo Carrera reacted to the decision of the European Football Associations (UEFA) to remove Russian clubs and the national team from international competitions next season. His words convey “Sport Express”.
“I am very sorry that all this has happened. Russian teams did not deserve this. I am really looking forward to Spartak’s return to the European arena. Of course, I believe that sports should stay out of politics. I hope that the measures against Russian football will end soon,” Carrera said.
Recall that, according to the decision of UEFA in the 2022/2023 season, Russian clubs will not be able to participate in European competitions, and the Russian team will not play in the Nations League. In addition, A National Team will automatically take the fourth place in Group B. For this reason, they will be relegated and eliminated from Group C and will be placed last in 16th place.
On February 28, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA decided to exclude all Russian clubs, as well as the Russian national team, from participating in all competitions controlled by these organizations.
Previously reportedUEFA has suspended the participation of Russian national teams and futsal clubs in competitions under its auspices.
