The club is going through difficult times. The worst in its history. The club’s economic, sporting and judicial crisis has no precedents. We already know where it comes from. The depth is so great that it is not enough for a single political space or group of wills. In this half-year board we have achieved many successes, but also made mistakes, both financially and sportingly.
We achieved the goal that seemed impossible: to get Hugo Moyano and Yoyo Maldonado out of the club. I presented myself as a presidential candidate and clarified with every media appearance that my administration would be in transition, for a single period and for a single reason: no one dared face Moyano as a presidential candidate.
The worst began to happen at the club: the magnitude of the crisis was greater than expected and, in particular, the economic income was much lower than we had assumed. Even with the second best-selling clothing in the country today, marketing revenue is small compared to Independiente’s liabilities.
However, the club canceled thanks to contributions, player sales and various income, debts for millions of dollars in these months. From the AFIP, going through inhibitions, to months of back wages. But it’s not enough.
Economic commitments that allowed for the political space that Moyano removed did not appear and do not appear.
According to the club, it is also not an economic-financial project. It was not my job to make it or prepare it in a board of directors, the roles are diverse. However, my responsibility as chairman gave me financial support, without which the club would not have been able to pay its December salaries or bonuses.
In the sporting field, there are always three scenarios. The best, the average and the bad. The third was given. Responsible? Everyone It would be very easy to put the blame on the entire professional team. I will not do it. However, I understand that the economic crisis is much deeper and more serious. Independiente will have to learn to live together, not only on an administrative level, but in everything around it as an institution with less rancor and resentment.
