World junior doubles champions Luka Berulava and Karina Safina will no longer skate together. The athlete wrote about this on social networks.

“This is the end of this story. That wasn’t my decision, but I’m talking about it first. Everything has an end, sometimes it’s happy, sometimes it isn’t. This story doesn’t have a happy ending. That’s life,” Safina wrote.

Until 2021, the 18-year-old figure skater competed for Russia. He then teamed up with Berulava and started skiing for Georgia. The couple won the Junior World Championships, fourth place at the World and European Championships, and ninth at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Recall that the International Skating Union (ISU) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from the competition. The ISU explained this decision with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). At the beginning of June 2022, this decision was approved at the ISU congress. It has an indeterminate structure.

Former Honored Coach of Russia Eteri Tutberidze spoke about the “confrontation” between figure skaters Evgenia Medvedeva and Alina Zagitova.
