Andriy Pavelko, President of the Football Federation of Ukraine (UAF), was re-elected to the board of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

The elections were held at the UEFA Congress in Lisbon on 5 April. On the eve of Alexander Ceferin, he was re-elected as UEFA President. Ceferin was the only candidate for this post. He has been in this position since 2016.

Andrey Pavelko in February suspended Dismissal from his job by decision of the Pechersky district court of Kiev

On February 16, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted searches in the UAF office. Pavelko is a defendant in a corruption-related criminal case. His lawyers objected to the court’s decision.

The UAF announced that Pavelko will continue to head the organization until the court decision takes effect.

At the end of November 2022, the head of the federation was arrested for embezzling funds used to organize the production of artificial turf for football fields. The UAF bailed him out for $260,000.

Pavelko has repeatedly demanded that Russian national teams and Russian clubs not be excluded from international competitions, and also opposed the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
