Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations (UN), criticized the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the admission of Russians to the 2024 Olympic Games.
“There is so much hypocrisy and double standards in this world. I was fascinated by IOC president Thomas Bach’s words about Russian athletes’ participation in the 2024 Olympics.
First, he said that Russian teams are not allowed, so team sports are not allowed. Second, athletes who support the CBO are prohibited from participating. How will they determine who supports and who does not?
They tell me about CSKA, it was really an army club in Soviet times. But it was created a long time ago. Today it is just a commercial enterprise of the same name, ”says the diplomat TASS.
The upcoming Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
It should be recalled that on March 28, at the meeting of the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee, the issue of admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions was discussed.
The organization recommended that the Russians be allowed to remain in a neutral status if the athletes did not actively support the war. Athletes representing law enforcement and armed forces will not be allowed to compete.
Former State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev declarationthat all sports federations want to admit Russia to international competitions.
