Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova commented on the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to prohibit their athletes from participating in qualifying competitions with Russian athletes. Transmits words RIA Novosti Sports.

“We don’t care if they want to compete with us. How much do their rights concern us? They refuse because of themselves, not because of us. They are offered to participate, but they do not want to. So be it. I don’t think the IOC can somehow influence their position,” Tarasova said.

It should be recalled that at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee on March 28, the issue of admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions was discussed.

The organization recommended that the Russians be allowed to have a neutral status if the athletes did not actively support the hostilities. Athletes representing law enforcement and armed forces will not be allowed to compete.
