The Absolute Spanish Paralympic Swimming Championship was held in Madrid last weekend, where more than 200 swimmers from all over Spain came together.
HE Club Esportiu Aquarium Alicante with total attendance 9 swimmers representing the Valencian Community. Six of these swimmers have been called up by the Federación d’Esports Adaptats de la Comunidad Valenciana (FESA): María Candela, Jaume Cortés, Marta Expósito, Delia Fontcuberta, José Ramón Martínez and Manuel MartíneZ. The remaining three were called up by the Valencian Community Sports Federation for the Mentally Handicapped (FEDDI-CV): Macarena Esteve, Natalia Paz and Miguel Ángel Valiente. They were also accompanied by their coaches, Alejandro Cantos and Jesús Peinado, called up by FESA.
All the efforts of the swimmers together with their trainers in the first half of the season were rewarded in this magnificent championship and they won a total of 21 medals in their own categories and 2 medals in the multiple disability categories. He also contributed to the success of the Aquarium club. 6 medals in relay races. These spectacular results, together with the results of the last FEDDI Spanish Championship held in Torrevieja on 9-12 March, make Club Aquarium one of the most important clubs in the national region. This was reflected in the AXA League classification for the 2021-2022 season, where the club’s girls finished second and the club third in the overall category. It should be noted that the majority of swimmers train in the Hogar Provincial de Alicante pool, the Monte Tossal pool in Alicante and the Esperanza Lag pool in Elche under the direction of coach Alejandro Cantos. The aquarium club remains a national-level reference club in adapted sports.
