According to media reports, Motorika’s head of prosthetics Oleg Pikalov told figure skater Roman Kostomarov, who lost a shinbone and fingers in one arm, how the process of selecting and fitting a prosthesis would take place. Pikalov’s words rule the portal kp.ru.

“Before having a prosthesis, it is necessary to wait for the swelling to leave the tissues and for the sutures to be removed from the patient. In order for the potential prosthesis to give the maximum effect from use, it may be necessary to re-cut the motive or correct its existing composition,” said the doctor.

Pikalov emphasized that the rehabilitation period varies depending on the general condition of the patient, as well as the complexity of the tasks that he plans to perform with the help of the prosthesis.

“You will definitely need an individual rehabilitation plan and a team of doctors to manage it: rehabilitation specialists, occupational therapists, orthopedists, psychologists. Much depends on one’s motivation. For someone, a few months is enough for the prosthesis to be his assistant every day, while someone needs more than a year, ”said he.
