The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine condemned the recommendations of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the admission of Russians.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine condemns the partial change in the position of the International Olympic Committee on the non-admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international sports competitions,” the message said. official website of the organization.
As stated in the statement, the Ukrainian side “will continue to work to prevent representatives of Russia and Belarus from participating in international sports competitions, including the Olympic Games.”
On 28 March, Switzerland hosted the first day of the IOC Executive Committee meeting, which discussed the issue of the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions.
The organization recommended that the Russians be allowed to remain in a neutral status if the athletes did not actively support the war. Athletes representing law enforcement and armed forces will not be allowed to compete.
