Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk’s manager, Egis Klimas, has announced that his client has canceled his fight with Briton Tyson Fury. His words lead twitter journalist Michael Benson.
As it is known, the fight planned to be held on April 29 will not take place due to the conditions of Fury’s team. “No matter how much concessions Usyk made, he was still presented with new demands,” Klimas said. He noted that the Ukrainian boxer hopes to return to the ring for mandatory championship defense in the summer.
Negotiations on the fight have been going on since the autumn of 2022. The organizer of the Ukrainian Alexander Krasyuk noted that they were delayed due to disagreements over the fee.
Usyk last fought in Saudi Arabia on August 20, defeating the British Anthony Joshua. The Ukrainian retained his world champion titles according to the International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Organization (IBO) and WBA Super.
Fury is the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) world champion.
