Russian forward and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin was named the second star of the Columbus Blue Jackets and the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season match.
The fight ended in overtime with a score of 7:6 in favor of Columbus, and Ovechkin scored a goal.
The Russian player, who scored in the 6th minute of the match, used his assistants from Tom Wilson and Dylan Stroum. So Ovechkin wrote the 820th disc and the 40th of the season during his entire career in the NHL. Thus, Ovechkin narrowed the gap to Wayne Gretzky’s “eternal record” in the NHL’s top scorers list to 74 goals. Gretzky scored 894 goals.
The first star was Blue Jackets forward Jack Roslovik, who threw a corset. The overtime disc gave Columbus the win. Completing the top three was another player on the losing team, Nick Jensen scoring two goals.
It was previously reported that Ovechkin hit Phil Esposito’s record for most seasons with over 40 goals after 30 years.
