Russian forward and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin spoke about his career ahead of a sentiment ceremony honoring him as the second-best goal scorer in National Hockey League (NHL) history.

A throne appeared in Ovechkin’s honor in the home arena of the Washington Capitals.
The throne is a structure of 802 pucks that allows the Russians to reach a clear second place in the competition between the best scorers in the history of the national hockey league. With each subsequent goal, the number of discs on the throne will increase.
On December 24, Ovechkin threw a corset and made an assist in the match against Winnipeg. The 37-year-old Russian player has recorded 39 goals and 29 assists in 65 games in total this season.
