The Russian captain of the National Hockey League (NHL), Washington Capitals club Alexander Ovechkin, scored a double goal and assisted in the regular season match against Minnesota Wild (3:5).

As noted by StatsCentre on social media, Alexander Ovechkin broke the legendary Canadian Gordie Howe record for the number of goals for a 37+ player in the first 65 games of the season. Howe had scored 37 goals in the first 65 games of the 1968/1969 championship, 54 years ago. He was 40 at the time.
It’s also worth noting that thanks to a double against Minnesota, the Russian scored 75 goals, narrowing the gap to another legendary hockey player, Wayne Gretzky, on the list of best NHL snipers.
