The Asian Olympic Council (OCA) Athletes Forum supported the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions at the organizing meeting held in Bangkok. DEA News referring to the press service of the event.
“Forum participants concluded that athletes should not be punished for the actions of their governments. Athletes should have access to international competitions (including the Asian Games) without any discrimination.”
Recall that on January 25, the International Olympic Committee announced that it was considering the possibility of admitting Russian athletes to international competitions in a neutral status, who did not support the conduct of a special operation on the territory of Ukraine.
IOC President Thomas Bach urged the governments of the countries not to interfere in the issue of the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. In an interview with Der Spiegel, he pointed out that the IOC does not support discrimination based on nationality, saying that it allows Russians and Belarusians to participate in the 2024 Games without a flag or anthem.
