Voronezh Fakel defeated Sochi in the 20th week match of the Russian Premier League (RPL).
The match played in Voronezh on 18 March ended with the home team’s score 3-0.
In the last match, Georgiy Gongadze (with a penalty in the 34th minute), Ruslan Magal (73th minute) and Evgeniy Markov (79th minute) came forward in the Fakel squad.
Sochi was in the minority after 80th minute striker Georgy Melkadze received two yellow cards for insulting the referee.
Fakel earned their first victory in the RPL since September 11, 2022, when they defeated Lokomotiv Moscow (2:0) at home. Dmitry Pyatibratov’s wards scored 17 points and remained in 14th place in the Russian Championship standings.
After a crushing defeat to Orenburg (0:4) in the 19th round, Sochi has 28 points and is in the ninth place after its second loss in a row.
Fakel will face CSKA Moscow at home on April 2, and Sochi will face Dynamo in Moscow on the same day, in the 21st round to be played after the break given to the national team matches.
