Avangard Omsk defeated Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the first leg of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) Eastern Conference playoffs semi-finals.
The match, which took place at Avangard’s home ground in Omsk, ended with the home team’s score of 2:1. The winner was determined in overtime.
At the end of the three periods the score was even – 1:1. Reed Boucher in the 11th minute and Semyon Koshelev in the 32nd minute helped Metallurg return to the Omsk squad.
Arseniy Gritsyuk scored Avangard’s winning goal in overtime in the ninth minute of the first additional game episode.
The Omsk team took the lead in the series with a score of 1-0 up to four wins. The next game will be played on March 19 in Omsk.
