The current president of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, was re-elected head of the organization at the 73rd FIFA Congress, held today in Rwanda. It has been reported official website of the organization.

Infantino will remain in office until 2027. It is worth noting that there is only one candidate in the elections.

Recall that Gianni Infantino was first elected president of FIFA in 2016 and received 115 out of 207 votes in the runoff. He was elected for a second term in the 2019 elections. Before that, this position was held by Joseph Blatter.

In 2015, Blatter was sued on suspicion of illegally transferring 2 million Swiss francs to then UEFA president Michel Platini. He was removed from his post as FIFA president and banned from football activities.

Recall that FIFA and the Association of European Football Federations (UEFA) decided last year to exclude the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from participation in all competitions controlled by these organizations.

It was previously reported that Russia U-17 women’s football team will take the stage under the flag and anthem in the international tournament..
