Naum Rashkovsky, international grandmaster and former head coach of the Russian men’s and women’s chess teams, has died at the age of 76. official site Russian Chess Federation (FCHR).
“On March 14, 2023, after a serious illness, the two-time champion of the RSFSR international grandmaster, honored coach of Russia Naum Nikolaevich Rashkovsky passed away. In the statement made by FSH, it was stated that the Russian Chess Federation conveyed its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Naum Nikolayevich.
Rashkovsky was the winner of the RFSFR championships in 1974 and 1976. In 1979 he won the tournaments in Sochi and Lvov, and in 1980 he was awarded the title of international grandmaster.
Under his leadership, the Russian men’s team won the Chess Olympics in 2002 and the European Championships in 2003.
It was previously learned that Fabio Capello, the former assistant of the Russian national team Italo Galbiati, died at the age of 86.
The coach was part of Capello’s headquarters in the Russian national team from 2012 to 2014. Galbiati has also worked with Capello for AC Milan, Real Madrid, Roma, Juventus, England national team and other Italian-led teams.
