Former football player of the Russian national team Andrei Arshavin in the match against Volga in the Russian Cup in St. Petersburg’s Brazilian player, Zenit Vendel, commented on the detention of a fan who threw a banana.
The match took place on 25 February in Ulyanovsk and ended with Zenit’s victory with a score of 3:0.
“This hasn’t happened in Russia for 20 years. I don’t think it’s a problem. The young man threw it out. Wendel was unpleasant but I didn’t hear him focus on that.
It seems to me that everything has long been out of stock. What did they find – well done. It’s okay, it’s a special case, they’ll handle it, everything is fine, ”quotes Arshavin “Match TV”.
During the broadcast of the match, it was clear that one of the stands was throwing a banana towards the pavement as Wendel left the field. The Ulyanovsk club was fined 500 thousand rubles and was punished by keeping a home match of the Russian Cup under surveillance without spectators.
On March 10, it was learned that the police identified the perpetrator. It turned out to be a resident of Ulyanovsk, born in 2004.
