Why is there no VAR in the Women’s MX League?

Injustice? Since the advent of the controversial VAR to Mexico during the Apertura 2018, the clubs and fans of the Women’s MX League they wondered when that resource would be implemented for the women’s league; it began to be used only four years later, but only from the last copies.

Unlike the men’s branch, where the VAR tool is used during the 17 days, the playoffs and also in the finals, the Women’s MX League enjoys this “privilege” only for the last commitments of the season, i.e. from the Liguilla.

The first time VAR was used in our country was on matchday 13 of the Apertura 2018 during an Atlas vs. Veracruz. Years later and before the 2022 Apertura began, Mikel Arriola announced that this tool would make its first appearance in the Women’s MX League in the quarterfinals.; Cruz Azul vs. Chivas was the stake that witnessed the historic moment on the pitch of the Estadio Azteca.

Since then, no new ruling has been made on when Liga MX Femenil referees will be able to use this tool on a regular basis.
