In the Netherlands, the trial of Spartak Moscow football player Quincy Promes, who was accused of stabbing his cousin Isai during a family celebration in the summer of 2020, was held.
The actor is on trial for serious injury. The crime did not qualify as attempted murder or manslaughter. The prosecutor demanded that Promes be sentenced to two years in prison.
During the interview, an audio recording of a conversation between Promes and his father, in which the actor claimed that he aimed at his cousin’s neck, not his leg, was listened to. This evidence was disregarded, as Promes was wiretapped in another drug-related criminal case.

The victim’s lawyer, Yehudi Moshkovich, said his client was in a state of stress after the incident.
“Promes lived many children’s dreams until he stabbed Isaiah. Pride precedes the fall and the fall continues,” he said.
Due to the criminal case launched against Promes, he has so far been denied Russian citizenship, which he has been trying to obtain since November last year.

Lawyer Alexander Dobrovinsky said that Promes still has the opportunity to apply for Russian citizenship as usual.
“It took the easy way out and the Ministry of Sports doesn’t want to deal with it. You can apply to the Promes appeals service. If he has proof that he has lived in Russia for more than five years, his case will be considered in the usual manner for persons applying for Russian citizenship.

Former head of Moscow “Spartak” Andrey Chervichenko opposed the granting of Russian citizenship to Promes.
“We have enough criminals and ours too. Let him go to the Netherlands to deal with his problems first, and then he gets Russian citizenship, ”says Sport24, quoting Chervichenko.
Promes missed the club’s training camp before the resumption of the Russian Premier League (RPL). The team flew to the UAE, but the player remained in Moscow.
There were rumors that the Dutch player was afraid of being extradited to his homeland, but in early January the club said he was suffering from health problems.
Promes played for Spartak from 2014 to 2018. He became the champion of Russia in the 2016/17 season. Later he played in the Spanish “Seville” and the Dutch “Ajax”. He returned to the Moscow club in the winter of 2021.
Promes made 16 appearances with the Reds and Whites this season and scored 14 goals.
