Nikolai Pisarev, assistant to Valery Karpin in the Russian national team, answered a question about the invitation of Lokomotiv’s striker Artem Dziuba to the national team for the match against Iran.
“Something has changed, are we back somewhere? It was previously announced that players over the age of 30 would not be invited. Nothing has changed, we have not gone back anywhere. On February 8, the forward signed a contract with Lokomotiv until the end of the season. On March 4, Lokomotiv defeated Rostov 3:1 away. Artem Dziuba scored a hat-trick for the Moscow team. These are the first targets of the striker after moving to the “railroad” camp.
The meeting between Russia and Iran is scheduled for March 23.
Recall that in the spring of 2022 the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Association of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to exclude the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from participation in all competitions controlled by these organizations.
